Just Ask! Using Surveys to Improve Your Business
You can learn useful information about your business, customers, and potential customers by conducting a survey. If you have a list of e-mail addresses of your customers and prospects you can send them an e-mail containing a link which leads to a survey on your site.
What is the benefit to you?
You get knowledge, and knowledge is a powerful tool in tailoring your business and services to your customers' needs. You can ask questions like:
- How could our web site be more informative to you?
- What products or services should we offer in the future?
- Please rate our customer service?
- What is your age?
It is important to ask questions that will get you the answers you want. If you want suggestions from your viewers, asking if they simply like your site doesn't give you enough information. And providing a list of radio buttons or check boxes streamlines answers even more. Plus research has shown that folks are more likely to answer if all they have to do is click.
What is the benefit to the people taking your survey?
Well, there has to be some benefit. Providing an incentive is a good way to insure responses. That could be in the form of a freebie, useful information, an entry into a sweepstakes, or anything else you think your customers would like.
How do you do this?
Create a form on your web site to ask questions. Having the responses of that form emailed directly to your email box makes it easiest.
Web Builder Express has a form tool built right in and the system automatically e-mails the results of each submission back to you.

Weird Sells: Get Noticed on the Internet
What is weird?, well in the 21st century it's getting more and more difficult to define what is weird and what isn't . According to the dictionary one definition is "Of a strikingly odd or unusual character; strange". Surely that isn't enough any more? A quick look at eBay and you will find hundreds of items that would comply with that definition. Toast with faces on it, Glass jars containing Ghosts and numerous examples of weird and wacky objects, (well weird and wacky according to the people who have submitted them.) The sheer number of them should preclude them from being classed as Weird. Mainstream Newspapers now have pages of weird news and no shortage of people willing to appear on them. The nightly news no longer finishes with heart warming local story it finishes with some weird local happening Weird is big news.
10 Sure-Fire Viral Marketing Strategies To Increase Traffic To Your Website

Make Sure That Your Dot-Com Doesnt Become The Next Dot-Bomb!
Late last night I turned on my television and discovered a used car salesman trying to sell this cheap clunker of a car to recently pink-slipped and bankrupt dot-com unfortunates. Apparently if you want to trade in your luxury sports car, these guys would be "happy" to give you a great deal on something more "economical."
Never Underestimate the Value of Giving Things Away
"Never underestimate the value of giving things away." I remember as kid hearing these words on a regular basis. In fact this philosophy was re-enforced so much by my parents in my younger years that it has become a part of who I am today. But, I'm also a businessperson who enjoys earning a living, and in business, our primary goal is to maximize profits. So we have what appears to be an obvious conflict here. How does one remain profitable, let alone increase profit levels if they're giving things away?
How You Can Use Free Public Domain Content to Drive Hoards of Targeted Traffic to Your Websites
There is an interesting phenomenon on the Internet and that is free public domain content. This is content whose copyrights have long since run out, or other information like dates, figures, government forms, and tons of other information. The problem with public domain content is that it is frequently difficult to find and it is not just organized and available on one website for people's needs. You can use this to your advantage however. All you have to do is seek out free public domain information and include it on your website in order to attract the traffic that is looking for this type of information.
What is the Flavor of Your Website?
When I mention, "flavor", I mean the appeal of the products or services, a company offers, to your basic senses, ( taste, touch, feel, sight, etc.). But, allow me to extend this even further and talk about company appeal as well, for example company "culture". Let's get less broad and bring this to you and me. What is our "appeal" to the public? Do we present a good image, ("flavor") to the public? Are people impressed with the products and services we offer? Are they presented in a professional manner? This analysis could be applied to email, websites, ads, for that matter, anything the public "sees" with our name on it. In previous articles, we discussed BRANDING your company. Included in this process would be BRANDING your image as well. So, when I mention Wendy's, for example I see DAVE, the friendly guy who cares about selling good products. When I mention McDonald's I see RONALD, the clown appealing to children. What does this have to do with the product? Absolutely nothing. It was a masterful way of BRANDING a company. Since they both sell basically the same product, what separates one from the other is their "image". Dave, the nice guy who wants to provide quality hamburgers and the Ronald, the clown, who loves kids, in the other case. Where am I going with this? I believe it is important to create a business logo, and slogan, to optimize your branding process. Then, it is really important to create your company "image". I hope my "image" projects WORK FROM HOME, quality products and services, and a professional image; and, that I have a website you can visit that is reliable and trustworthy. When you see our logo, that is what I want your vision and memory to recall. Something like "Dave" or "Ronald". Do you want you image to be a high-powered sales company, or a professional, creative, critical thinker? The "image" I get in the first case is SPAM, misrepresentation, (tell anybody anything to get it sold), and worthless products and services. Please, I am not trying to offend anyone. We all need to sell! But, there is the right way and the wrong way. I prefer the right way. We stand behind ALL products and services, and will NEVER spam anyone at any time. That is the "image" I hope you "see" when our BRANDED name appears anywhere. Create Your Own Online Marketing TV Station
It will happen! TV and the Internet will eventually merge into one giant multi-media "melting pot" that includes everything from live footage and old reruns to garage videos posted by your next door neighbor's kid. Just like cable TV fractured network TV, the Internet will enable everyone with a voice, a video camera, and something to say to fracture cable TV even more. But the real TV revolution on the Internet will only happen when marketers stop trying to copy TV, with its commercials and outdated modes of revenue generation, and start copying the "pay-per-view" and "infomercial" models.
The Power of Buzz
How did Hotmail gain over 12 million subscribers in 18 months? How did the very low budget movie "The Blair Witch Project" become such an incredibly successful phenomenon? The answer lies in the power of "buzz."

Forming Profitable Joint Ventures
You won't be involved in Internet marketing long before you see the term "Joint Venture." Perhaps you are familiar with the term from its application in the business world but don't see how it would apply to Internet marketing.
